Year 4
Unit 1: Creating Media - Photo Editing
The children developed their understanding of how digital images can be changed and edited, and how they can then be resaved and reused. They considered the ethics and impact that editing images can have, and evaluated the effectiveness of their choices.
Unit 2: Computing Systems and Networks
The children applied their knowledge and understanding of networks, to appreciate the internet as a network of networks which needs to be kept secure. They learnt that the World Wide Web is part of the internet, and were given opportunities to explore the World Wide Web for themselves in order to learn about who owns content and what they can access, add, and create. Finally, they evaluated online content to decide how honest, accurate, or reliable it is, and understand the consequences of false information.
Unit 3: Programming
The children created programs by planning, modifying and testing commands to create shapes and patterns. They used logo, a text-based programming language to modify their programs.
Unit 4:
During this unit the children learnt about data handling and data logging. At first, they explored what data and data logging is and how data is collected over time. The children will then deepen this understanding by looking at data logging in different contexts.
