Christianity Creation Story
In this unit, the children explored creation. They discussed how Christians believe earth has a creator and therefore, understanding that humans must look after the environment. They then moved onto learning about what Christians believe at Christmas. They explored the idea of gift giving and the purpose and feeling of gifting.
Christianity - Christmas Story
In this unit, the children learnt about what Christians believe at Christmas. The children explored the idea of gift giving and the purpose and feeling of gifting. They also looked at Christingle and the significance of this to Christians as well as making their own Christingles to take home.
Christianity, Jesus as a friend: How did Jesus show friendship?
In this unit, the children learnt about friendship and how they show this. They also discussed ways in which friendship can be difficult. Leading on from this, they began to think about how Jesus was able to show friendship along with how he may have found it difficult to show it.
Easter – Palm Sunday:
Key question for this enquiry: Why was Jesus welcomed like a king or celebrity by the crowds on Palm Sunday?
The children learnt to know that Jesus is special to Christians and how his welcome on Palm Sunday shows this.
The children read the Easter story and ordered the main events using sequencing cards. The key focus was Palm Sunday and recapping key questions
